What are the costs and benefits of a Wriggly Time?

wrigglytime.jpg

Life and work are rarely straightforward and in the last wee while I've been thinking about the phrase of 'I've been having a wriggly time'.... Together with the phrase 'Grist for the Mill'

It occurs to me that the an oyster's life might not always be comfortable, perhaps as the grit gets to work inside them, it could be quite painful, perhaps having a wriggly time...

This is my experience, in coaching work and in my own life, that we might not know what is going on as we the internal grist is working away. It can be very painful, yet the rich reward is also being crafted and born.

So i'll leave you with a few words from a Swedish Hymn

O that Pearl of great price! have you found it?

O consider it well, ere you answer,

As you hope for a welcome above.

Have you given up all for this Treasure?

Have you counted past gains as but loss?

Has your trust in yourself and your merits come to naught?

I first wrote this article on Linkedin when i was having a difficult time. Now a couple of years later with the world recession looming triggered by COVID 19, i guess it will be happening for many of us, and certainly those i coach are reporting ups and downs. I think the theories of change, with Bridges three stages being Endings, Wilderness and New Beginnings are useful. As also is the TED talk the power of procrastination.
